Five-star power forward Sacha Killeya-Jones signed his national letter of intent with the University of Kentucky on Saturday afternoon.
Killeya-Jones — a 6-foot-10 prospect from Chapel Hill, N.C. — committed to the Wildcats in August. He signed with UK after his game at the Phenom National Showcase in North Carolina on Saturday.
247Sports ranks Killeya-Jones as the No. 16 overall prospect in the class of 2016, and he’s considered one of the best offensive post players in the country.
“There’s a lot of talent there, and he’s on a steep improvement curve,” 247Sports analyst Jerry Meyer told the Herald-Leader when Killeya-Jones committed. “It’s amazing how much better this guy has gotten in one calendar year. And I think he still has a lot of upside left.
“He reminded me of Skal Labissiere when I watched him play. He’s not as long as Skal, but he has the fluidity — just that fluid athleticism that Skal has — and he’s extremely skilled.”
UK’s three-player recruiting class for 2016 currently includes Killeya-Jones, No. 1 point guard De’Aaron Fox and five-star small forward Wenyen Gabriel. The Cats will also sign New Zealand power forward Tai Wynyard, who is planning to enroll at UK for the spring semester and join the team next month.
