There was a big, last-minute addition to the Big Blue Madness guest list.
Mohamed Bamba — the highest-ranked uncommitted player in the class of 2017 — walked into Rupp Arena with the rest of the visiting recruits Friday night, about 15 minutes before Madness was scheduled to begin.
Bamba is ranked by Scout.com as the No. 2 overall prospect in the 2017 class, and he was the first player that UK Coach John Calipari visited at the start of the fall recruiting period last month. The 7-footer from Harlem, N.Y., is also considering Duke, Harvard, Michigan and a few others.
Arizona commitment DeAndre Ayton is the No. 1 player in the class.
The addition of Bamba means that six of Calipari’s top 10 targets from the 2017 class were at Madness. The guest list already included Quade Green (Bamba’s AAU teammate), Kevin Knox, Nick Richards, PJ Washington and Trae Young, as well as six players from the classes of 2018 and 2019.
UK does not yet have any commitments for the class of 2017.
