Scout.com national recruiting analyst Evan Daniels fielded questions on a Facebook Live session earlier this weekend, and Kentucky was naturally one of the most-discussed topics.
Mohamed Bamba is Scout.com’s No. 2-ranked prospect in the class of 2017, and he has already taken official visits to UK, Michigan and Texas, with his fourth and final official visit set for Duke later this month.
Daniels said he doesn’t expect the 7-footer from Harlem, N.Y., to make a college decision any time soon.
“It would be hard for me to pick a favorite,” he said. “I would probably say Kentucky and Duke are at the top of that list, but there’s still a lot to play out.”
Daniels said that he doesn’t expect Kevin Knox, the Wildcats’ other top 2017 target, to announce a college decision until after the McDonald’s All-American Game, which is March 29 in Chicago. Knox has narrowed his choices to UK, Duke, Florida State and North Carolina.
Daniels also discussed the impact of UK’s current season on recruiting, the best player he’s seen this high school season, the recruitments of Zion Williamson and Romeo Langford, Louisville’s 2017 class and the latest on undecided five-star prospects Trevon Duval and Brian Bowen.
