UK picked up one of its biggest commitments yet for the class of 2018 on Sunday with the pledge of four-star offensive lineman Darian Kinnard, another talented prospect out of the state of Ohio.
Kinnard — a 6-foot-7, 335-pound prospect from Cleveland — is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 17 offensive tackle in the 2018 class. He’s also considered to be the No. 161 national recruit and No. 6 rising senior from Ohio.
“I would like to announce that I will be committing to something huge,” Kinnard tweeted Sunday night. “Get ready Kentucky, I’ll see you soon.”
UK hosted Kinnard for a recruiting visit Saturday, and he’s been one of Vince Marrow’s top targets as the Wildcats recruiting coordinator looks to pull another stellar group out of Ohio. Kinnard joins tight end Brenden Bates and Alex Reigelsperger as the third commitment from the state for UK’s 2018 class.
Kinnard also had scholarship offers from Penn State, Maryland, UCLA, West Virginia and several other schools. He’s the first offensive lineman from the 2018 class to commit to Kentucky.
UK now has seven commitments for next year and the No. 23 recruiting class nationally, according to 247Sports.
