Before getting started with his in-home recruiting visits Monday, five-star basketball prospect Zion Williamson took in the high-profile Clemson-Auburn football game at Clemson, one of the schools on his list, Saturday night.
Williamson — a 6-foot-6 small forward from nearby Spartanburg, S.C. — was joined on that trip by a last-minute visitor: highly touted point guard recruit Devon Dotson, who was originally supposed to visit Florida over the weekend. Dotson’s trip to Gainesville was called off due to Hurricane Irma.
Dotson and Williamson are friends who played together with the Adidas-sponsored South Carolina Supreme travel team at the end of the July recruiting period. Dotson — a five-star point guard from North Carolina — has talked openly about the possibility of play together with Williamson in college. Kansas is the heavy favorite in Dotson’s recruitment, and his relationship with Williamson is one of the factors that has led the Jayhawks to the top of Williamson’s 247Sports Crystal Ball page in recent weeks.
