UK basketball commitment Immanuel Quickley will not be at Big Blue Madness on Friday night due to a scheduling conflict, the Herald-Leader has confirmed.

Quickley — a 6-foot-3 point guard from the Baltimore area — is the Wildcats’ only commitment for the class of 2018, and he was expected to be in Lexington this weekend for Madness, an important recruiting event for the UK program. SEC Country’s Kyle Tucker first reported that Quickley would not make the trip.

Quickley’s AAU team director told the Herald-Leader that Quickley has high school basketball activities scheduled for this weekend, and he had already missed his team’s fall-league games last weekend to participate in the USA Basketball training camp in Colorado Springs.

His absence could be a minor blow to UK’s recruiting efforts. Quickley is close friends with elite 2018 prospect Zion Williamson, who will be in Lexington for his official visit this weekend. Two other five-star players in the class — Bol Bol and Darius Garland — will also attend Madness as part of their official visits to Kentucky this weekend.

Quickley will be eligible to officially sign with the Cats on Nov. 8.
