Five UK freshmen and one sophomore were included Monday on ESPN’s new list of the Top 100 prospects for next year’s NBA Draft.
Kevin Knox is the top Cat at No. 14 on the list, and the 6-9 small forward is the No. 10-ranked freshman eligible for next year’s draft, according to ESPN. He was followed by fellow freshmen Hamidou Diallo (No. 18), Nick Richards (No. 22), PJ Washington (No. 32) and the injured Jarred Vanderbilt (No. 35).
Those rankings would put all five UK players in the discussion for first-round status — there are 30 picks in the first round of the NBA Draft — but it remains a possibility that a few of those players will return to Kentucky for their sophomore seasons.
Sophomore forward Sacha Killeya-Jones is No. 59 on ESPN’s list.
UK freshman point guards Quade Green and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander — both expected to be key players on this season’s team — did not make the Top 100. Sophomore forward Wenyen Gabriel was also absent from ESPN’s list.
