Five-star shooting guard Romeo Langford cut his list to three schools Saturday morning, but he is not expected to make a college decision before the early signing period ends Wednesday.
Langford — a 6-foot-5 prospect from New Albany, Ind. — has narrowed his choices to Indiana, Kansas and Vanderbilt. His previous list also included Kentucky, UCLA and North Carolina, and he took official visits to the latter two schools this fall. Langford has not visited Kentucky recently, and UK Coach John Calipari had not had any contact with the top prospect since the summer, signaling that UK was no longer recruiting him.
Calipari coached Langford on the USA Basketball U19 team in July, when Langford — suffering from a back injury — played the fewest minutes on the squad.
Earlier this fall, Kentucky extended a scholarship offer to five-star shooting guard Keldon Johnson, who is expected to announce a college decision Saturday night. The Cats have also extended a scholarship offer to four-star shooting guard Tyler Herro, who is visiting Lexington this weekend. Five-star combo guard Quentin Grimes is listing Kentucky as a finalist, but Kansas is perceived to be the leader in his recruitment.
Langford is the No. 5 overall recruit in the 247Sports composite rankings. Indiana has emerged as the favorite on his 247Sports Crystal Ball page.
