Carey remains No. 1 in rankings for 2019

UK recruiting target Vernon Carey is still the No. 1 basketball prospect in the class of 2019, according to the new rankings released by on Wednesday.

Carey — a 6-foot-10 forward from Fort Lauderdale, Fla. — is one of eight high school juniors with an early scholarship offer from Kentucky.

The others with UK offers are power forward James Wiseman (No. 2 in the rankings), forward Matthew Hurt (No. 5), combo guard Bryan Antoine (No. 7), wing Scottie Lewis (No. 9), point guard Tyrese Maxey (No. 12), small forward Keion Brooks (No. 36) and small forward D.J. Jeffries (No. 47).

Georgia pledge Ashton Hagans (No. 6) is the only player in the Top 25 that has already make a college commitment.

Two Kentucky natives made the Top 150 list. Louisville Trinity guard David Johnson — a former U of L commitment — is No. 90 overall. University Heights guard KyKy Tandy is No. 117 overall. Both players have visited UK.
