UK Coach John Calipari spent the first two days of this weekend’s live recruiting period in Texas, primarily watching the Wildcats’ top targets on the Nike and Under Armour circuits.
Calipari popped up Sunday morning in the Indianapolis area, however, to check out five-star power forward Matthew Hurt, one of the top players in the class of 2019 and a marquee name on the Adidas circuit this summer.
Hurt — a 6-foot-10 prospect from Minnesota — is the No. 4 overall prospect in the 2019 class, according to the 247Sports rankings. Calipari has hosted him for an unofficial visit to Lexington and extended a scholarship offer in January.
Kansas is also seen as a major factor in Hurt’s recruitment, and he has offers from all of the nation’s blueblood programs. Hurt averaged 33.9 points, 15.0 rebounds, 3.9 blocks and 3.6 assists per game this past season.
