Three-star cornerback Jay Ward committed to Kentucky on Friday afternoon, becoming the Wildcats’ ninth commitment for the class of 2019 and the program’s fourth pledge from the state of Georgia for next year.
Ward — a 6-foot-1, 175-pound prospect from Moultrie, Ga. — is the No. 82 cornerback in the class of 2019, according to the 247Sports composite rankings. He is the No. 98 overall recruit in Georgia, according to those rankings.
His most recent scholarship offers were from Indiana, Western Kentucky and Marshall.
Ward, who was on UK’s campus Friday, joins fellow Georgia natives KD McDaniel, Marquez Bembry and Tra Wilkins in UK’s 2019 class, which is ranked No. 46 nationally and No. 11 in the Southeastern Conference, according to 247Sports.
