There’s an interesting new prediction on the 247Sports Crystal Ball page of Scottie Lewis, one of UK’s top basketball targets in the class of 2019.
National recruiting analyst Andrew Slater logged a pick Monday in favor of St. John’s, which is one of Lewis’ final seven schools and a program that has been recruiting him hard more more than two years.
Lewis — a 6-foot-5 wing from New Jersey — has narrowed his list to UK, St. John’s, Duke, Florida, Harvard, Stanford and Villanova, and there’s been no real consensus favorite in his recruitment thus far. He’s the No. 11 overall prospect in the 2019 class, according to the 247Sports rankings.
“He’s unbelievable. And his passion is unbelievable and so fun to be around,” AAU coach Mike Rice told the Herald-Leader recently. “Whether it’s a 7 o’clock practice. Whether it’s the fourth game on a Sunday against a team you’re really not interested in playing. He’s incredible. He’s always on. And he always has passion, he always has energy for himself and his teammates. So it’s one of those things where you’re not only getting the talent and the athleticism, you’re getting the complete package.
“It’s different. Being around the AAU, the grassroots — everybody’s always looking at themselves. Scottie continues looking at his teammates, looking at other players. He’s incredible with that aspect.”
Slater also logged a new Crystal Ball pick in favor of St. John’s for five-star power forward Aidan Igiehon, a rising star in the 2019 class and a teammate of Lewis’ on the Under Armour circuit. 247Sports ranks Igiehon as the No. 14 player in the class, and UK has shown some recent interest in his recruitment.
