UK Coach John Calipari, who has been meeting with top basketball prospects all week in the opening days of the fall recruiting period, tweeted a photo in the skies above Mount Rainier on Thursday night.

That’s just outside of Seattle, which is home to Jaden McDaniels, the No. 4 overall player in the class of 2019, according to the 247Sports and Rivals.com rankings. McDaniels has been one of the fastest-rising recruits in the country so far this year, and national analysts have been saying that he has the potential to emerge as the best overall prospect from this class.

His recruitment is wide open, with scholarship offers from Kansas, Arizona, Washington and several other top programs. There has been no confirmation of a UK scholarship offer, but McDaniels did say earlier this summer that Kentucky was his “dream school” growing up. His older brother, Jalen, is a star player at San Diego State.

Nike named McDaniels the “breakout performer of the year” after he averaged 19.2 points, 9.3 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.4 blocks per game on the EYBL circuit this past spring.

Calipari has been busy this week, holding in-home visits with James Wiseman, Vernon Carey, Matthew Hurt, Zeke Nnaji, Scottie Lewis and Aidan Igiehon from the class of 2019, as well as five-star guard RJ Hampton from the 2020 class.
