Five-star center Oscar Tshiebwe announced Monday that he has received a scholarship offer from Kentucky.
Tshiebwe — a 6-foot-9 center from Kennedy Catholic (Pa.) — hosted John Calipari and the UK coaching staff for an in-home visit Monday, and he’s expected to be in Lexington for his official visit next weekend. His other finalists are Baylor, Illinois and West Virginia, with the Mountaineers being the main competition for the Cats.
Rivals.com national analysts Eric Bossi and Corey Evans are both predicting that UK will ultimately land Tshiebwe, and they shared their thoughts on the class of 2019 big man with the Herald-Leader late last week.
Though the scholarship offer for Tshiebwe was just announced Monday, the Herald-Leader had been told that the five-star prospect has had a spot open for him in the Cats’ class for weeks. Calipari was highly impressed with him during the July evaluation period, and Kentucky should be considered a major player for his commitment.
A college decision is expected this fall. Tshiebwe is the No. 22 overall player in the class, according to the 247Sports composite rankings.
