Highly touted center Kofi Cockburn has trimmed his list of colleges to eight, and Kentucky is no longer in contention.
National recruiting expert Andrew Slater reported Monday that Cockburn has narrowed his recruitment to Syracuse, Kansas, Pittsburgh, Illinois, UConn, LSU, Florida State and St. John’s. He’s expected to begin setting up his official visits soon.
Cockburn — a 6-foot-10, 255-pound prospect from New York — is the No. 31 overall recruit in the class of 2019, according to the 247Sports composite rankings. He will play his senior season at Oak Hill Academy (Va.).
Kentucky showed some interest in Cockburn over the summer and was included on his most recent list of 12 schools, but the Wildcats never followed through with a scholarship offer. There has been very little activity on Cockburn’s Crystal Ball page.
