A few notes from this week …
* Rivals.com national analyst Corey Evans reported Wednesday that five-star forward Jaden McDaniels is expected to take the first official visit of his recruitment next weekend to San Diego State, where his older brother, Jalen, is currently a standout player. McDaniels — a 6-foot-10 prospect from Seattle — is the No. 4 overall player in the 2019 class and is also considering Kentucky, Texas, UCLA and Washington. His recruitment is considered wide open at this time.
* 247Sports national analyst Jerry Meyer logged a Crystal Ball prediction in favor of Kentucky for 2020 point guard Jeremey Roach, one of the top playmakers in that class. Roach — from Fairfax, Va. — received a scholarship offer from the Wildcats last month and is the No. 11 overall junior in the 247Sports rankings. Basketball analyst Dain Ervin, the top-ranked Crystal Ball prognosticator, also logged a pro-UK prediction for Roach last week.
* Ervin logged another prediction in favor of Kentucky earlier this week for Jalen Green, the No. 2 overall player in the 2020 composite rankings. Green — a 6-foot-5 shooting guard from California — recently landed a scholarship offer from the Wildcats. National analyst Andrew Slater has a Memphis prediction on Green’s Crystal Ball page.
* Jerry Meyer has joined Andrew Slater in picking North Carolina for Cole Anthony, the top-ranked guard in the class of 2019 and arguably the most college-ready prospect from that group. Anthony, who will finish his high school career at Oak Hill Academy (Va.), has taken official visits to UNC and Notre Dame this fall. He also has UK on his list of 12 schools, though he has not scheduled a visit to Lexington as of yet.
