Five-star forward Jaden McDaniels has been perhaps the most tight-lipped top basketball prospect in the 2019 class when it comes to recruiting. This weekend, he’ll stay close to home for an official visit to Washington.
McDaniels — a 6-foot-10 player from Seattle — took an official visit to San Diego State, where his older brother is currently a star player, earlier this month. The Washington trip will be the second official visit of his recruitment.
His list also includes Kentucky, Texas and UCLA. No plans have been confirmed for official visits to those three schools, though McDaniels is expected to see them all before making a college decision. Rivals.com national analyst Corey Evans told the Herald-Leader this week that UK could get McDaniels on campus sometime next month. John Calipari has already visited him twice in Seattle this fall.
247Sports national analyst Evan Daniels said in this week’s mailbag that he’s heard San Diego State, Washington and UK are the most likely destinations for McDaniels. ESPN recruiting insider Jeff Borzello has a prediction of San Diego State (with a confidence level of 40 percent) and specifically mentioned Washington as the Aztecs’ possible top competition.
There are just four predictions on McDaniels’ 247Sports Crystal Ball page, a sign of how difficult his recruitment has been to predict. McDaniels is the No. 4 overall player in the 2019 class, according to the 247Sports composite rankings.
