An updated NBA mock draft from ESPN on Tuesday morning placed UK freshman Keldon Johnson at No. 7 overall and Wildcats sophomore PJ Washington in the No. 20 overall spot, and those were the only two Kentucky basketball players to make to the list.
Johnson and Washington both moved up one spot from ESPN’s preseason mock draft, which was posted in late August. Through six games this season, Johnson is the team’s leading scorer with 16.5 points per game, while Washington is averaging 13.3 points and a team-high 8.5 rebounds per game.
Duke freshmen Zion Williamson and RJ Barrett are No. 1 and 2, respectively, in ESPN’s mock draft.
Over at SB Nation, a new mock draft posted Tuesday morning puts Johnson at No. 12 and Washington at No. 24. That mock draft does not include any other UK players, though it only consists of the 30 first-round picks. ESPN’s mock draft includes a full 60 picks.
(Side note: San Diego State redshirt sophomore Jalen McDaniels — older brother of major UK target Jaden McDaniels — is projected as a first-round pick in both mock drafts, and it’s looking unlikely that he will be around next season to possibly play alongside his brother, who lists the Aztecs among his final five schools. That could be good news for UK and the others still on Jaden’s list).
