Duke could be on the verge of a terrific ending to this 2019 recruiting cycle.
The Blue Devils already have commitments from five-star McDonald’s All-Americans Vernon Carey and Wendell Moore, in addition to a pledge from top-50 recruit Boogie Ellis. Duke is also now considered the frontrunner for top-10 recruit Matthew Hurt, who announces his college decision next week.
Top 30 prospect Cassius Stanley could also be joining that Blue Devils’ class.
247Sports analyst Josh Gershon reported Thursday night that Stanley — a 6-foot-5 guard from California — has added Duke to his list of schools and will take an official visit to Durham this weekend. Gershon also logged a new Crystal Ball prediction in favor of the Blue Devils for Stanley, who is the No. 28 player in the 247Sports rankings for 2019.
Duke currently has the No. 10 class in the country — according to the 247Sports rankings — but adding Hurt would give them the No. 1 class, adding Stanley would give them the No. 2 class, and adding both would give the Blue Devils the clear top-ranked class in the country.
Stanley is now expected to announce his college decision April 20, one day after Hurt reveals his college choice.
