ESPN’s crew of NBA Draft analysts have been following the top recruits from the 2019 class throughout the all-star circuit over the past few weeks, and some of UK’s players for next season are projected to be first-round picks a year from now.
The updated 2020 mock draft from ESPN was posted Monday morning, and point guard recruit Tyrese Maxey is the top future Wildcat on the list at No. 11 overall. The other incoming McDonald’s All-American at Kentucky — five-star wing Kahlil Whitney — is No. 17 overall, outside of lottery range but well within first-round territory.
Returning point guard Ashton Hagans is No. 28 on ESPN’s list, which does not include Immanuel Quickley, Nick Richards, EJ Montgomery, Nate Sestina or incoming recruit Keion Brooks.
The only remaining 2019 recruit with a UK scholarship offer — Seattle forward Jaden McDaniels — is No. 7 on ESPN’s 2020 board, dropping from the No. 1 overall spot after a rough showing on the all-star circuit.
