Highly coveted graduate transfer Kerry Blackshear Jr. is scheduled to start his official visit to Kentucky on Tuesday night.
Blackshear — a 6-foot-10, 250-pound post player from Virginia Tech — has already taken recruiting visits to Florida, Arkansas and Tennessee since announcing his withdrawal from the NBA Draft and intention on playing one more season of college basketball as an immediately eligible transfer. Jake Weingarten of Stockrisers.com was the first to report his planned UK visit.
The Orlando native averaged 14.9 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game for the Hokies last season and is ranked by ESPN as the No. 1 graduate transfer this year.
If he does ultimately choose Kentucky for his final season of college basketball, Blackshear would join a UK frontcourt that already includes Nick Richards, EJ Montgomery and Nate Sestina, the No. 2 grad transfer in the country, according to ESPN.
Tennessee hosted Blackshear for an official visit this past weekend.
