Clarke — a 6-foot-6 guard — is currently the No. 3 overall prospect in the 247Sports rankings for the class of 2021, but he’s widely expected to reclassify to 2020 and play just one more season of high school basketball before moving on to college. A reclassification announcement is expected soon.
A day after Slater’s prediction, national recruiting analysts Jerry Meyer and Corey Evans also logged picks in favor of Kentucky for Clarke.
The Herald-Leader was recently told that Kentucky and Memphis would be the top two teams on Clarke’s list, and Duke is expected to ramp up its recruiting efforts once he makes the move to 2020. Clarke has visited Lexington in the past, and he was the second player from the 2020 class to land a scholarship offer from the Wildcats.
Clarke averaged 17.0 points, 5.7 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game on the Nike circuit this spring, making 33.8 percent of his three-point shots.
