Coming into this week, Alabama was seen as a slight favorite for five-star power forward Isaiah Jackson, whose recruitment has been strangely difficult to handicap.
A few hours before his announcement, there might be a new leader.
Rivals.com national analysts Corey Evans and Eric Bossi put in predictions in favor of Kentucky on Jackson’s Future Cast page on Saturday. National recruiting expert Andrew Slater also logged a new Crystal Ball prediction in favor of Kentucky.
Jackson — a 6-foot-9 prospect from Detroit — is set to reveal his college decision Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
ESPN analyst Jeff Borzello also tweeted out some pro-UK insight Saturday morning. His prediction is also that Jackson will end up with the Wildcats.
“Five-star Isaiah Jackson announces his commitment this afternoon,” Borzello said on Twitter. “Kentucky, Alabama or Syracuse. This has been maybe the hardest five-star recruitment to get a read on. I’ve thought Kentucky has quietly been in a good position for weeks, however, so I’m predicting the Wildcats.”
Jackson’s high school coach, David McGlown, told the Herald-Leader on Thursday that he still didn’t know which way his star player would go.
“It’s been tough on him,” McGlown said. “He even thought about pushing it back for a minute there. But he wanted to follow the same timeline that he had set for himself. But, it’s tough. And, to my knowledge, to this day, I don’t even know which one it’s going to be. We’ll see Saturday.”
