It’s still early in the season, and three Kentucky Wildcats are still listed among ESPN’s Top 100 prospects for the 2020 NBA Draft, but two of those three players dropped slightly in the website’s latest update Friday.
Freshman guard Tyrese Maxey is still the highest-ranked Wildcat on ESPN’s board, staying put at No. 8 in the latest rankings. His backcourt teammate Ashton Hagans, a sophomore, dropped from No. 59 to No. 60, which would be the final spot in the 60-player NBA Draft.
Freshman forward Kahlil Whitney suffered the biggest drop, going from No. 17 to No. 24 overall. Whitney has started all six games for UK this season, averaging 6.2 points and 2.8 rebounds in 19.8 minutes per game.
None of UK’s other players — including Nick Richards, EJ Montgomery, Johnny Juzang, Immanuel Quickley and Keion Brooks — were listed among ESPN’s Top 100 prospects for next year’s NBA Draft, and it’s expected that some of those players will return to Lexington for another season.
