Five-star point guard Kennedy Chandler is the latest recipient of a Kentucky scholarship offer, he announced Wednesday night.
Chandler — a 6-foot-1 prospect from Memphis, Tenn. — has played in front of UK Coach John Calipari several times over the past few months, both with his high school team and while leading Mokan Elite to the Peach Jam championship on the Nike circuit in July.
He is the No. 15 overall recruit in the class of 2021, according to the 247Sports composite rankings.
Chandler has dozens of scholarship offers, including recent offers from both Duke and North Carolina, and he’s a major target for home-state Tennessee. There are currently no predictions on his 247Sports Crystal Ball page.
Following five-star recruit Devin Askew’s commitment and reclassification to Kentucky earlier this year, Chandler is the first point guard in the 2021 class to land a UK scholarship offer. Shooting guard Jaden Hardy is the only other backcourt player in the class with a Kentucky offer.
Chandler averaged 14.7 points, 4.2 rebounds, 5.9 assists and 2.2 steals per game on the Nike circuit, shooting 36.4 percent from three-point range during the regular season of the 2019 campaign.
He’s scheduled to take visits to Duke, Florida State and Michigan over the next several weeks.
