ESPN’s latest nationally televised high school basketball game will feature one of Kentucky’s top up-and-coming recruiting targets.
Brandon Huntley-Hatfield — a 6-foot-9 power forward from Clarksville, Tenn. — will lead IMG Academy (Fla.) against Huntington Prep (W.Va.) in a game that is scheduled to be shown live on ESPN2 at 9 p.m. Friday.
Huntley-Hatfield is currently ranked No. 6 overall in the 2022 class by 247Sports, but the coaches that are recruiting him view him as a likely 2021 recruit. He landed a scholarship offer from Kentucky late last year and was in Rupp Arena for the UK-Louisville game last month.
The promising frontcourt prospect comes from the same hometown as Alex Poythress and has family ties to the former Kentucky forward, who has been helping guide Huntley-Hatfield through the early stages of his basketball career. He also told the Herald-Leader in October that Kentucky has always been his “dream school.”
IMG Academy’s roster also features Moussa Diabate, an international prospect in the class of 2021 that is looking at a possible move to 2020. Diabate — a 6-9 forward — is a top-10 player in the 2021 class and has received recruiting attention from Kentucky.
