Rivals.com national analyst Eric Bossi logged a Future Cast prediction this week for five-star forward Greg Brown, giving the nod to Memphis in his recruitment.
Brown — a 6-foot-9 prospect from Austin, Texas — visited Kentucky last month and is also considering Auburn, Memphis, Michigan and Texas, his hometown school and father’s alma mater. He will take his final official visit this weekend to Michigan.
Texas has long been seen as the favorite in Brown’s recruitment, though the Longhorns have taken a bit of a hit as they continue to struggle in Shaka Smart’s fifth season as coach of the team. Smart’s job security has also come into question.
Bossi joins Rivals.com colleague Corey Evans in picking Memphis, which appears to be in the best spot for Brown’s commitment if he doesn’t end up at Texas. The Longhorns are still the leader on Brown’s 247Sports Crystal Ball page, though no national analysts have yet made a prediction on that website.
There is no exact timetable for Brown’s college decision, which is expected in the spring. Rivals.com ranks him as the No. 8 overall prospect in the 2020 class.
Bossi also logged a new prediction Monday in favor of Memphis for Jalen Green, the former Kentucky target and No. 2 overall recruit in the 2020 class. Memphis does not currently have any commitments for the 2020 class after landing the No. 1 class in the country during the 2019 cycle to cap Penny Hardaway’s first year as coach of the Tigers.
