There’s a new Crystal Ball prediction in favor of a Southeastern Conference school on the page of five-star center Moussa Cisse, but it’s not going Kentucky’s way.
National recruiting expert Andrew Slater logged the first pick in favor of Louisiana State on Cisse’s page Monday. The 6-foot-10 prospect is the No. 8 overall player in the 2021 class, though he’s widely expected to reclassify to 2020 and play college basketball next season. UK extended a scholarship offer last year, and John Calipari has been to several of his games.
The Herald-Leader was told late last month that LSU, Florida State and Memphis were likely the three teams to watch at this stage in Cisse’s recruitment, although Kentucky should not be counted out completely. All of the previous picks on Cisse’s Crystal Ball page had gone in favor of Memphis. Cisse — a native of Guinea — moved to that city last year after starting his American basketball career in Brooklyn.
Cisse has a 7-4 wingspan, and 247Sports national analyst Evan Daniels last month called him “arguably the top defensive prospect in high school basketball.”
