The home-state Hoosiers have been seen as something of a favorite in the recruitment of Kaufman, who has visited Bloomington multiple times. Louisville, Purdue and Xavier have commonly been mentioned as the other top contenders in Kaufman’s recruitment, and all four of those schools have extended scholarship offers.
Rivals.com national analyst Corey Evans also put in a pick favoring Indiana last month, switching from his original prediction of Purdue.
Kaufman — a versatile, 6-foot-8 forward — visited Kentucky for Big Blue Madness in the fall, and the Wildcats’ coaching staff has continued to stay in contact, though UK has not yet extended a scholarship offer. Kaufman likely would have been one of the top players on Kentucky’s watch list this month if the April evaluation periods had not been canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
247Sports ranks Kaufman as the No. 43 overall player in the 2021 class. He was named Indiana’s Gatorade player of the year this past season, averaging 25.8 points, 9.6 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.6 blocks per game.
