Mutombo national analyst Corey Evans has logged a Future Cast prediction in favor of Georgetown for highly touted center Ryan Mutombo, the son of former NBA great Dikembe Mutombo.

Mutombo — a still-growing, 6-foot-11 prospect in the class of 2021 — is currently ranked No. 83 in that class by, but he’s been rocketing up the recruiting lists lately and is expected to continue his rise in the near future. 247Sports’ recently updated rankings pegged Mutombo as the No. 43 player in the class.

The Herald-Leader spoke to Mutombo’s high school coach, Mike Harner, in Atlanta late last month, and he said that they were still hoping to hear from Kentucky, which, as of late April, had not yet reached out.

“I think he would want to play at the highest level he could, whether that’s a Kentucky or Duke or Carolina, whether that’s Louisville or somebody on the up and come that’s rising as a program,” Harner said.

Mutombo’s father was a star center at Georgetown before becoming one of the NBA’s all-time greatest post defenders. Ryan Mutombo has known Hoyas Coach Patrick Ewing — another Georgetown legend — his entire life, and he received an early scholarship offer from the Hoyas.

There are currently no predictions on Mutombo’s 247Sports Crystal Ball page, and Mutombo’s high school coach told the Herald-Leader that he’s in no rush to make a college decision.

“He told me he was going to wait until the spring of his senior year to decide. I think he wants to try and get an offer from everybody in the country. I think that’s where he wants to position himself. He wants to be the best player in the state of Georgia — if he can get there — and then ultimately be one of the top players in the country.”
