Rivals.com national analyst Corey Evans has logged a new Future Cast prediction in favor of Tennessee for five-star recruit Kennedy Chandler, the only point guard with a UK scholarship offer for the 2021 class.
Chandler — a 6-foot point guard from the Memphis area — will play his senior season at Sunrise Christian in Kansas, and he’s narrowed his recruitment to Kentucky, Duke, Memphis, North Carolina and Tennessee. Rivals.com ranks him as the No. 10 overall recruit and No. 1 point guard in the 2021 class.
Five-star forward Paolo Banchero, another major Kentucky target, has talked openly about the possibility of teaming up in college with Chandler, but both players have said they will make independent decisions. Duke, UK and Tennessee are the three like schools on each player’s list.
Though Chandler is the only point guard in the 2021 class with a UK scholarship offer, the Wildcats would still have options if he ultimately chooses to go somewhere else. Incoming freshman Devin Askew doesn’t turn 18 years old until later this month and is not projected as a one-and-done player, so he could be back for a second season. Kentucky is also thought to be in a good spot for both Jaden Bradley and Skyy Clark, two of the top point guards in the 2022 class. Both have been mentioned as reclassification candidates.
Chandler is expected to make a college decision in time for the early signing period in November.
