There’s a clear consensus forming over the most likely destination for star point guard Kennedy Chandler.
This past weekend, Rivals.com national analyst Corey Evans told the Herald-Leader that Tennessee is “in a very, very, very good spot right now” to land Chandler’s commitment. Evans also put in a Future Cast prediction for the Vols last week. Chandler’s four other finalists are Kentucky, Duke, North Carolina and Memphis, the hometown school.
This week, a flurry of action on Chandler’s 247Sports Crystal Ball page has cemented the notion that Tennessee is the clear team to beat in his recruitment. On Tuesday alone, five new picks were made on Chandler’s page — coming from recruiting insiders who cover Duke, Memphis and Tennessee — and all of those predictions went in the Vols’ favor. National analyst Jerry Meyer was also among the recruiting experts who picked Tennessee for Chandler on Tuesday.
Chandler is the No. 1 point guard and No. 11 overall recruit in the 2021 class, according to the 247Sports composite rankings. He is also the only point guard in the 2021 class with a scholarship offer from Kentucky.
There is no exact timetable for his college announcement.
