Top 25 national frontcourt prospect Daimion Collins is the latest recipient of a Kentucky scholarship offer.
Collins — a 6-foot-9 forward from Atlanta, Texas — received the offer from the Wildcats on Wednesday night. The highly athletic prospect from the class of 2021 recently emerged on UK’s recruiting radar, and Kentucky assistant coach Joel Justus will be the program’s primary recruiter. Collins has also been recruited heavily by Texas assistant coach Jai Lucas, who is expected to be announced as the newest addition to Kentucky’s basketball staff in the very near future.
Before the Kentucky offer, Texas and Oklahoma were viewed as the two most likely landing spots for Collins, though UK is now expected to be a major player for his commitment. Rivals.com ranks Collins as the No. 20 overall player in the 2021 class, and he is considered one of the most athletic frontcourt players in the group.
247Sports national analyst Jerry Meyer logged a Crystal Ball pick in favor of Oklahoma earlier this week after it became clear that Lucas would be leaving Texas for Kentucky. Collins also plays his AAU ball with Oklahoma-based Team Griffin.
Collins is now the fifth uncommitted prospect in the 2021 class to earn a UK scholarship offer. Point guard Hunter Sallis and small forward Bryce Hopkins landed UK offers last week, joining longtime Kentucky targets Patrick Baldwin Jr. and Jaden Hardy.
The Wildcats also got their first commitment for the 2021 class over the weekend, when point guard Nolan Hickman announced his pledge to Kentucky.
