Lecque

Jalen Lecque has received a UK basketball scholarship offer, according to national recruiting analyst Andrew Slater.

Lecque — a 6-foot-4 combo guard from New York, now playing for a high school in North Carolina — is the No. 9 overall prospect in the class of 2019, according to the 247Sports composite rankings. He has talked about possibly moving to 2018 — his original class — but there’s been no final decision on that, and UK is already expected to have several talented backcourt players for next season.

If Lecque stays in the 2019 class, he’ll be among UK’s top targets at the position. He averaged 20.1 points, 9.3 assists and 9.1 rebounds per game this past season, and he’s now playing with the New York Rens — the former team of Hamidou Diallo — on the Nike circuit.

Pendleton County basketball standout Dontaie Allen generated some buzz over the weekend, playing for MATTS Mustangs at the Terrific 24 event in the Indianapolis area.

247Sports recruiting analyst Brian Snow singled out Allen as a high-major prospect in a write-up Saturday, noting that coaches from Purdue, Providence and Xavier were all there to watch him play that day.

On Sunday morning, new Louisville head coach Chris Mack turned away from the Nike and Under Armour events in the area just to see Allen play. He was joined by Xavier head coach Travis Steele, who was watching Allen for the second day in a row.

INDIANAPOLIS — A day after UK’s scholarship offer to Scottie Barnes became public, another talented basketball prospect in the class of 2020 has landed one.

N’Faly Dante is the second recruit from the current sophomore to class to get an offer from Kentucky, according to national recruiting analyst Andrew Slater.

Dante, like Barnes, plays on the Nike circuit. The 6-foot-11 center from Mali now plays for Sunrise Christian in Kansas and has been one of the most buzzed about prospects on the spring basketball circuit. He played for the victorious World Select Team at the Nike Hoop Summit earlier this month and is averaging 16.8 points and 9.0 rebounds through five games of Nike EYBL play.

Johnson

Louisville Trinity guard David Johnson has already been committed to the hometown Cardinals once in his recruitment.

The prospect from the class of 2019 committed to U of L under head coach Rick Pitino and then backed off of that pledge after Pitino was let go last fall. The 247Sports Crystal Ball says Johnson should be a Cardinal again in the future.

National recruiting analyst Evan Daniels, who has a near-100-percent success rate with Crystal Ball picks, is the latest to log a pro-Louisville prediction for Johnson, who is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 41 overall prospect in the 2019 class.

Washington

The three Kentucky Wildcats who have entered their names in this year’s NBA Draft but have not yet hired agents — Wenyen Gabriel, Jarred Vanderbilt and PJ Washington — still have a lot of work to do to raise their draft stock, apparently.

None of those three is listed close to first-round range in ESPN’s most recent rundown of the Top 100 prospects for this year’s draft, which was released Thursday morning. Only Washington — at No. 51 overall — is even in draft range.

Vanderbilt, who’s season was limited by two injuries, is listed at No. 65 overall, and Gabriel is not among the 100 draft-eligible prospects on ESPN’s list. There are a total of 60 picks in the NBA Draft.

Bryan Hudson

ESPN released its first expanded football recruiting rankings for the class of 2019 on Monday morning, and five players from the state of Kentucky made the list.

South Warren defensive lineman Jacob Lacey is No. 116 overall, Trinity defensive end Stephen Herron is No. 137 overall, Glasgow offensive lineman Tanner Bowles is No. 217 overall, Scott County offensive lineman Bryan Hudson is No. 250 overall, and Louisville Christian wide receiver Milton Wright is No. 274 overall.

It’s an extraordinarily talented class of in-state football players, but it doesn’t appear that UK will land any of those five prospects.

Four-star offensive lineman Tanner Bowles announced Sunday that he has committed to Alabama.

Bowles — a 6-foot-5, 280-pound prospect from Glasgow — is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 17 offensive tackle and No. 139 overall prospect in the 2019 class. He was a major UK recruiting target, but he picked up a scholarship offer from Alabama in February and committed while on a visit to the campus this weekend.

Scottie Lewis

National recruiting analyst Andrew Slater logged a Crystal Ball prediction in favor of Villanova for five-star wing Scottie Lewis on Sunday morning.

Lewis — a 6-foot-5 prospect in the class of 2019 — is one of UK’s top recruiting targets, and John Calipari and Tony Barbee have visited with him several times in the past few months. Lewis is also high school and Under Armour league teammates with five-star guard Bryan Antoine, another top UK recruiting target.

UK is currently favored on Lewis’ 247Sports Crystal Ball page, but Slater was ranked as the best predictor for recruitments during the 2018 cycle.

Matthew Hurt

UK Coach John Calipari spent the first two days of this weekend’s live recruiting period in Texas, primarily watching the Wildcats’ top targets on the Nike and Under Armour circuits.

Calipari popped up Sunday morning in the Indianapolis area, however, to check out five-star power forward Matthew Hurt, one of the top players in the class of 2019 and a marquee name on the Adidas circuit this summer.

Hurt — a 6-foot-10 prospect from Minnesota — is the No. 4 overall prospect in the 2019 class, according to the 247Sports rankings. Calipari has hosted him for an unofficial visit to Lexington and extended a scholarship offer in January.

Maxey

247Sports national recruiting analyst Evan Daniels logged a Crystal Ball prediction in favor of Kentucky for five-star point guard Tyrese Maxey on Saturday night.

Maxey — a 6-foot-3 prospect from Garland, Texas — has hosted John Calipari and UK assistant coach Tony Barbee twice for in-home visits over the past couple of weeks, and the national perception of his recruitment has swung heavily in the Wildcats’ favor over the past few days. UK now has nearly 90 percent of the picks on Maxey’s Crystal Ball page.
