Keldon Johnson

Keldon Johnson remained a top-10 national prospect in ESPN’s new rankings for the class of 2018, but he was one of three future Kentucky Wildcats that dropped in the website’s final update for this recruiting cycle.

Johnson fell one spot to No. 7 overall in the final rankings released Tuesday. Also dropping in the ESPN rankings were UK signees Immanuel Quickley (from No. 17 to No. 23 overall) and Tyler Herro (from No. 25 to No. 28 overall).

Before the final update, ESPN was the only major recruiting service that pegged Herro as a five-star recruit. He is now a four-star player on ESPN’s list.

New UK commitment EJ Montgomery jumped two spots to No. 14 overall.

Duke’s trio of R.J. Barrett, Zion Williamson and Cameron Reddish finished 1-2-3, respectively, in the final ESPN rankings.

Rivals.com finalized its basketball recruiting rankings for players in the class of 2018 on Monday, and Duke signee R.J. Barrett remains the No. 1 prospect for next season’s freshman class.

The Blue Devils no longer have a sweep of the top three players in 2018, however.

North Carolina signee Nassir Little jumped from No. 5 to No. 2 in the final rankings, leapfrogging Duke commitments Cameron Reddish, who fell one spot to No. 3, and Zion Williamson, who dropped two spots to No. 5. Oregon signee Bol Bol is No. 4 overall in the final rankings.

Moses Brown

John Calipari showed up at the Hoophall Classic in Springfield, Mass., on Sunday afternoon to check out Moses Brown and other basketball recruits in the 2018 and 2019 classes.

Brown — a 7-footer from Bronx, N.Y. — is one of the top centers in the class of 2018, and Calipari also visited him in November and watched him play last month. Other than Zion Williamson, who will announce his college decision Jan. 20, Brown has been the only recruit on Calipari’s 2018 radar in recent months, though he does not yet have a scholarship offer from the Wildcats.

Bryan Antoine and Scottie Lewis — two of UK’s top targets in the class of 2019 — are also scheduled to play at the Hoophall Classic on Sunday. The Monday slate of games includes UK signees Immanuel Quickley and Keldon Johnson, as well as top-ranked 2019 prospect Vernon Carey, who has an early offer from UK.

The updated Rivals.com basketball recruiting rankings for the class of 2018 were posted Tuesday, and Kentucky does not have any commitments in the top 10.

Oak Hill Academy (Va.) wing Keldon Johnson is the top Cat in the new rankings, coming in at No. 14 overall. He’s one spot ahead of point guard Immanuel Quickley, the No. 15 player in the Rivals.com rankings. Tyler Herro is No. 35 on the list. All three players signed with Kentucky in November.

Quickley

UK has one of the best basketball recruiting classes in the country for the class of 2018, but none of the Cats’ three early signees were included in the top 10 nationally in the new 247Sports player rankings released Thursday.

Immanuel Quickley (No. 14 overall) and Keldon Johnson (No. 15) are both considered five-star recruits by 247Sports, and Tyler Herro (No. 35) is a four-star prospect in those rankings. All three signed with UK last month.

Kentucky has finished with at least one top-10 recruit in the 247Sports rankings in every class under Coach John Calipari.

High school basketball players are allowed to take five official visits — where the host college pays for most of the expenses — during the course of their recruitment, and many of UK’s top targets for the class of 2018 have already scheduled the bulk of their trips.

Five-star players R.J. Barrett, Keldon Johnson and Immanuel Quickley have been on UK’s campus for official visits in recent weeks, and another mega 2018 recruit — Zion Williamson — is expected to be in Lexington this weekend.

Barrett

R.J. Barrett is the No. 1 overall prospect in the new Rivals.com basketball player rankings for the recruiting class of 2018, which were updated Wednesday.

Barrett — a 6-foot-7 shooting guard from Ontario — has narrowed his list of schools to UK, Arizona, Duke, Michigan and Oregon. He will take the first official visit of his recruitment — to Kentucky — this weekend, and Barrett is planning to sign with a school in November.

Fellow UK target Zion Williamson is the No. 2 player in the class, followed by UK targets Bol Bol at No. 3 and Cameron Reddish at No. 4.

Shittu

The new ESPN 100 basketball rankings for the class of 2018 were released Wednesday morning, and R.J. Barrett has moved past Zion Williamson and into the No. 1 spot.

A couple of players who have moved up on UK’s recruiting radar in recent weeks also received rankings bumps.

Simi Shittu — a 6-9 forward from Canada — is now the No. 6 overall prospect in the 2018 class. Shittu does not yet have an “official” scholarship offer from Kentucky, but John Calipari flew to Canada to watch him play recently and the versatile prospect is expected to land that offer as soon as he visits Lexington, a trip that could happen very soon.

Quickley

Scout.com updates its class of 2018 player rankings Friday, and several Kentucky recruiting targets are high on the list.

Marvin Bagley remains the No. 1 prospect in the class. The 6-foot-11 power forward from Arizona — now living in California — is still attempting to reclassify to 2017, and he has taken official visits to Duke, UCLA and Southern Cal in recent weeks. Those are the three favorites if he makes the move to 2017, and UK, Kansas and Arizona remain on his list, too.

Class of 2018 newcomer R.J. Barrett moves into the No. 2 spot behind Bagley after reclassifying from the 2019 class last month. UK is expected to be among the favorites in Barrett’s recruitment.
