Scout.com national analyst Evan Daniels is predicting that five-star basketball recruit Bol Bol will end up at Oregon, and the pick has started a major wave of momentum for the Ducks.

Bol — the 7-foot-3 son of late NBA great Manute Bol — said recently that he has narrowed his list to Kentucky and Oregon, and the Wildcats took the lead on his 247Sports Crystal Ball page shortly after that announcement. Daniels, who has been correct on 31 of 32 Crystal Ball predictions, logged his pick in favor of Oregon on Tuesday.

Bol

247Sports national analyst Jerry Meyer is now predicting that top basketball recruit Bol Bol will end up at Kentucky.

Bol — a 7-foot-3 prospect from the Los Angeles area — recently narrowed his recruiting list to UK, Arizona, Oregon, Southern Cal and UCLA, but he has effectively cut Arizona and USC after those two schools had assistant coaches arrested last week as part of the federal investigation into corruption in college basketball.

Kentucky is now the leader on Bol’s Crystal Ball page, and 247Sports national analyst Andrew Slater still has a prediction up in favor of the Wildcats dating back to the spring, when Bol received his scholarship offer from UK.

His mother told the Herald-Leader on Sunday night that the family is expected to meet with UK Coach John Calipari in California this weekend. Big Blue Madness is set for Oct. 13.

John Calipari is expected to be in California next weekend for a meeting with five-star recruit Bol Bol, his mother told the Herald-Leader on Sunday.

Bol — a 7-foot-3 power forward at Mater Dei (Calif.) — is ranked by Scout.com as the No. 2 overall recruit in the class of 2018. Five-star wing R.J. Barrett is the only player ranked ahead of Bol on that list, and Barrett was in Lexington earlier this month for his official visit to Kentucky.

Calipari coached Bol at the Team USA training camp in Colorado Springs in June, but Bol did not make the final USA Basketball squad that traveled with UK’s coach to play in the FIBA World Cup in Egypt, an omission that some analysts predicted might hurt UK’s recruitment of Bol, who had previously expressed considerable interest in the Wildcats’ program.

Bol

Earlier this year, CBS acquired Scout.com, and one of the most recent developments related to that acquisition is the ability for Scout.com recruiting analysts to make predictions on 247Sports Crystal Ball pages.

Scout.com national analyst Evan Daniels logged his first Crystal Ball pick involving a five-star prospect Monday night, predicting that class of 2018 star Bol Bol will ultimately commit to Arizona.

Bol — a 7-foot-3 forward now playing high school basketball in the Los Angeles area — was seen as a Kentucky lean earlier this year, but the general thinking around his recruitment recently shifted to Southern Cal as the favorite.

NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. — Five-star basketball recruit Bol Bol said that there were no hard feelings after being cut from John Calipari’s USA Basketball U19 squad last month.

Bol — the No. 2 overall player in the Scout.com rankings for 2018 — did say he heard from UK assistant coach Kenny Payne after he didn’t make that 12-player squad that traveled to Egypt for the FIBA World Cup.

“He was the one who told me that I should have made it,” Bol said. Continue reading »

247Sports national analyst Jerry Meyer changed his Crystal Ball pick for five-star recruit Bol Bol from Kentucky to Southern Cal on Wednesday.

Bol — a 7-foot-2 prospect in the class of 2018 — started his high school career in Kansas, but he transferred to Mater Dei High School in the Los Angeles area during the middle of this past season. He was the most valuable player of the Nike EYBL regular season this spring and rocketed up the 2018 recruiting rankings, moving as high as No. 2 overall on Scout.com’s board.

Bol Bol — the son of former NBA player Manute Bol — has earned a scholarship offer from Kentucky.

The 7-foot-1, 225-pound prospect in the class of 2018 talked to UK Coach John Calipari and assistant coach Kenny Payne via telephone Monday night, and the offer was extended during that conversation. Both coaches watched him play on the Nike circuit in Indianapolis over the weekend.

Bol is off to a stellar start to the spring basketball schedule, averaging 25.4 points, 9.0 rebounds and 3.0 blocked shots per game. He’s third in the league in scoring, behind only Marvin Bagley (the No. 1 recruit in the 2018 class) and R.J. Barrett (the No. 1 recruit in the 2019 class).
