Five-star small forward Brandon Ingram announced his commitment to Duke on Monday night, a decision that will push the Blue Devils to No. 1 in the class of 2015 rankings.

Ingram — a 6-foot-9 forward from Kinston, N.C. — had also been considering UK, North Carolina, Kansas, N.C. State and UCLA. He is ranked as the No. 3 overall player in his class by ESPN and 247Sports.

Duke already had commitments from five-star prospects Derryck Thornton, Luke Kennard and Chase Jeter, as well as three-star post player Antonio Vrankovic.

The day has come for five-star small forward Brandon Ingram to announce his college decision, but Kentucky doesn’t seem to be one of the favorites.

Ingram — a 6-foot-9 prospect from Kinston, N.C. — is now considered the No. 3 overall player in the class, according to 247Sports. His list of college possibilities includes UK, Duke, North Carolina, Kansas, N.C. State and UCLA.

The Blue Devils have emerged as the frontrunner in Ingram’s recruitment.

UK Coach John Calipari and assistant coach Kenny Payne will be in New York on Sunday night to meet with five-star post player Cheick Diallo, according to Andrew Slater of 247Sports.

Diallo is a top target as Calipari looks to add another frontcourt player to next season’s roster, which is already expected to include Alex Poythress, Marcus Lee and incoming 7-footer Skal Labissiere.

UK graduate transfer target Mike Thorne — a 6-foot-11, 270-pound player — committed to Illinois over UK, Kansas and Pittsburgh on Saturday. The Cats also lost five-star center Stephen Zimmerman to hometown UNLV on Thursday night.

Five-star small forward Brandon Ingram told the Herald-Leader that he will host UK coaches for an on-home visit Friday evening.

Ingram, one of four uncommitted McDonald’s All-Americans from the class of 2015, was arguably the top player in the practices leading up to that game and is expected to earn one of the highest rankings in the class when those are finalized in the next few weeks.

The 6-foot-9 prospect from Kinston, N.C., also told the Herald-Leader that he had already hosted coaches from Duke on Friday morning. He’s scheduled to host Kansas (Saturday), N.C. State (Monday) and North Carolina (Wednesday) next.

CHICAGO — Five-star wing player Brandon Ingram told the Herald-Leader on Monday that he has already planned an in-home visit with UK Coach John Calipari to take place after the NCAA Tournament.

Ingram was arguably the top performer at Monday’s McDonald’s All-American practice, which was open to the media. He scored in a variety of ways, using his long arms to finish at odd angles around the basket while also knocking down several three-point shots during the morning session.

UK basketball recruiting target Brandon Ingram made his expected visits to Duke and North Carolina on Saturday, catching home games at both schools.

UNC defeated Georgia Tech 89-60, and Duke topped Clemson 78-56.

Ingram has visited both schools several times over the past few months. He is also considering Kentucky, Kansas, UCLA and N.C. State, another school he’s seen multiple times.

The ESPN college basketball crew will be breaking down the recruitments of the top uncommitted prospects in the class of 2015 over the next few weeks, and that means lots of talk about possible Kentucky Wildcats.

The first player to be featured in the ESPN series is North Carolina small forward Brandon Ingram, who visited UK for Big Blue Madness but is also still considering Duke, North Carolina, N.C. State, Kansas and UCLA.

Ingram has said that he would like to take follow-up visits to UK, Kansas and UCLA, so he’s not expected to announce a college decision anytime soon.

UK assistant coach Barry “Slice” Rohrssen was in Las Vegas on Monday to see five-star center Stephen Zimmerman. On Tuesday, John Calipari will travel to North Carolina to watch five-star small forward Brandon Ingram.

Both players have UK scholarship offers for the class of 2015.

Rohrssen also saw class of 2016 point guard Derryck Thornton on Monday.

The Wildcats have a full week off before they play UCLA in Chicago on Saturday afternoon. Zimmerman and Ingram both have UK and UCLA on their list of finalists. An assistant coach from UCLA will also see Ingram on Tuesday. UNLV Coach Dave Rice watched Zimmerman on Monday.

UK basketball recruit Brandon Ingram attended Duke’s home game against Fairfield on Saturday night. Ingram — a 6-foot-8 small forward in the class of 2015 — lives about 100 miles away from Durham.

Ingram — a consensus top-20 recruit — has narrowed his list to Duke, Kentucky, North Carolina, N.C. State, Kansas and UCLA. He has mentioned the possibility of picking a school in time for the early signing period, which started earlier this week and ends Wednesday.

Ingram — a 6-foot-8 small forward from Kinston, N.C. — is now considered a five-star player in the senior class by all of the major recruiting services following a stellar showing on the spring and summer circuit.

247Sports ranks him as the No. 11 overall prospect for 2015.
