Huntington Prep Coach Rob Fulford has left the high school powerhouse to become an assistant coach at Missouri, both schools announced Monday.

Fulford has spent the last five seasons at Huntington Prep, where he compiled a 138-17 record and coached some of the best high school players in the country.

Andrew Wiggins played two seasons for Fulford and was the national player of the year last year before playing one season for Kansas. Wiggins is a possibility to be the No. 1 overall pick in the NBA Draft later this week.

PADUCAH — JaQuan Lyle scored 23 points and knocked down two free throws in the finals seconds to give Huntington Prep a 68-66 victory over Our Savior New American in a thrilling finish to the first day of the Mustang Madness showcase on Thursday night.

Huntington Prep — featuring UK targets Montaque Gill-Caesar, Thomas Bryant and Miles Bridges — led by as many as 14 points in the third quarter, but Our Savior stormed back to take a late lead, thanks in part to Class of 2015 star Cheick Diallo, another UK recruit.

Our Savior (N.Y.) came into the game with an undefeated record and the No. 8 ranking in the country, according to MaxPreps.com. Senior guard Kobe Eubanks’ three-pointer gave them a 64-62 lead with less than two minutes left, but Lyle answered with two free throws to tie it up with 1:11 remaining.

BENTON — UK recruit Montaque Gill-Caesar scored 19 points to help lead Huntington Prep to a 72-46 victory over Atlanta Sports Academy on Saturday afternoon.

Gill-Caesar was 7-for-10 from the field and made four of five free-throw attempts. He also had two rebounds and two steals in 24 minutes.

Former Louisville commitment JaQuan Lyle had 17 points and a team-high four assists for the Irish. Oregon assistant coach Tony Stubblefield was in the stands to watch Lyle play for the third time in the past couple of weeks.

Kentucky has expressed early interest in junior forward Montaque Gill-Caesar.

Huntington Prep’s schedule for 2013-14 has been released, and the Express will play nine games in the state of Kentucky this season.

This year’s squad features several high-profile players, including a couple who could end up on UK’s radar. Junior forwards Montaque Gill-Caesar and Thomas Bryant have been mentioned as possible Kentucky recruits. Scout.com ranks both players among the top 20 prospects in the Class of 2015.

Huntington Prep’s seniors include four-star recruits Josh Perkins (Gonzaga), Angel Delgado (Seton Hall) and Jalen Lindsey (Providence), as well as JaQuan Lyle, a five-star guard who recently decommitted from Louisville.

Last season’s Huntington Prep team was led by Andrew Wiggins, the No. 1 overall recruit who eventually chose Kansas over UK and two others.
