Jarren Williams

Following the news that Ohio State officially extended a scholarship offer to UK quarterback commitment Jarren Williams on Wednesday night, Crystal Ball picks are starting to come in predicting that Williams will ultimately flip to the Buckeyes.

Two reporters from the Ohio State blog Eleven Warriors logged picks in favor of the Buckeyes on Thursday morning.

Alabama has been recruiting Williams and current Ohio State quarterback commitment Emory Jones. Several pro-Alabama picks popped up on Jones’ Crystal Ball page Thursday morning, including one from national analyst Steve Wiltfong.

Williams

Four-star quarterback Jarren Williams will be in Lexington on Saturday night for Kentucky’s home game against Tennessee.

Williams is committed to Kentucky but has also become a recruit of interest for Alabama, Ohio State and several other major college football programs. He visited Tuscaloosa for a game earlier this season, and the Buckeyes have kept tabs on him with the possibility of making a major move in his recruitment later this fall.

247Sports ranks Williams as the No. 7 dual-threat quarterback for the class of 2018.

Williams

Four-star quarterback Jarren Williams did not visit Kentucky as he had planned for Saturday night’s game, he told the Herald-Leader on Monday morning.

Williams, who has committed to the Wildcats for the class of 2018, was unable to make the trip for UK’s prime-time game against Florida, though he told the Herald-Leader that he does still plan to take his official visit on the weekend of the UK-Missouri game next month.

Williams received his Army All-American Bowl jersey Monday morning and is off to a great start to his senior season of high school.

He is expected to enroll early at UK and join the team for spring practice.

Williams

As expected, UK quarterback commitment Jarren Williams made a big jump in the latest 247Sports football recruiting rankings for the class of 2018.

Williams is now considered the No. 145 overall prospect in the 2018 class, moving up 111 spots after his stellar performance at The Opening Finals in Oregon last week.

“The big takeaway with Jarren is there are very few holes in his game,” 247Sports scouting director Barton Simmons told the Herald-Leader after that event. “It’s hard to find a weakness. There are other guys that are better in any one category, but he’s not deficient anywhere. I felt like he was one of the best quarterbacks there, in terms of his ability to digest the offenses they were being asked to learn. In terms of his comfort level, going through his reads and progressions. And his accuracy and control over the position.”

Williams

UK commitment Jarren Williams picked up a scholarship offer from Mississippi on Tuesday, another major offer for the highly touted quarterback in the class of 2018.

Williams — a 6-foot-3, 207-pound prospect from Lawrenceville, Ga. — committed to UK back in June, and he has said several times that he remains firmly committed to the Cats despite new offers from such schools as Tennessee, Michigan State, South Carolina, Mississippi State, Miami, Missouri and now Ole Miss.

Tennessee hosted Williams for a visit a couple of weeks ago, but he told the Herald-Leader last week that he does not have any other trips planned.

Williams

UK quarterback commitment Jarren Williams told the Herald-Leader on Friday that he will take a recruiting visit to Tennessee this weekend.

Williams — the Cats’ first commitment in the class of 2018 — was supposed to visit Knoxville last month, but he was unable to make that trip. The Volunteers are holding a “junior day” event for 2018 recruits Saturday.

Coaches from South Carolina and Michigan State have also been in contact with Williams recently — and both schools have extended scholarship offers — but he has maintained that he is solidly committed to Kentucky, despite being open to taking some recruiting visits this spring.
