Five-star freshman Bam Adebayo will wear No. 3 for the Kentucky Wildcats next season, and fellow recruit Sacha Killeya-Jones will be No. 1, they announced Wednesday.

Adebayo — a 6-foot-9 power forward from North Carolina — wore No. 13 for his high school team, but that number was worn this past season by Isaiah Briscoe, who announced Wednesday that he will return to UK for a sophomore season.

UK signee Sacha Killeya-Jones will not play in next week’s Derby Festival Classic in Louisville, his mother told the Herald-Leader on Wednesday.

Ley Killeya-Jones said the family appreciated the event’s organizers interest in getting the future Wildcat for the game, but it was not possible due to the timing of the event. Killeya-Jones was in Chicago for most of last week to take part in the McDonald’s All-American Game.

UK signee Sacha Killeya-Jones had 28 points and 11 rebounds in Virginia Episcopal School’s 78-71 loss to Huntington Prep at the Zip Zone Classic in Lawrence County on Saturday night.

Coach John Calipari was in attendance to watch Killeya-Jones, who was UK’s first commitment in the class of 2016 and officially signed with the Wildcats earlier this month.

Killeya-Jones — a 6-foot-10 power forward — will return to Kentucky on Feb. 6, when Virginia Episcopal plays Prolific Prep (Calif.) at Pulaski County High School in Somerset.

UK basketball signee Sacha Killeya-Jones will be on campus starting Monday for a Thanksgiving week visit to Lexington.

Killeya-Jones — a 6-foot-10 power forward from Chapel Hill, N.C. — is expected to stick around and watch UK’s home game against Boston University on Monday night. He took his official visit to Lexington for Big Blue Madness last month and signed with the Wildcats during the early period. He also visited UK in June.

Five-star power forward Sacha Killeya-Jones signed his national letter of intent with the University of Kentucky on Saturday afternoon.

Killeya-Jones — a 6-foot-10 prospect from Chapel Hill, N.C. — committed to the Wildcats in August. He signed with UK after his game at the Phenom National Showcase in North Carolina on Saturday.

247Sports ranks Killeya-Jones as the No. 16 overall prospect in the class of 2016, and he’s considered one of the best offensive post players in the country.

UK commitment Sacha Killeya-Jones is scheduled to play in two high school games in the state of Kentucky this season.

Killeya-Jones — a 6-foot-10 power forward in the class of 2016 — will lead Virginia Episcopal School against top-ranked recruit Josh Jackson and Prolific Prep (Calif) in the Bluegrass Showcase in Somerset on Feb. 6.

That will be the second game of a tripleheader at Pulaski County High School, with the first game featuring Michigan State commitment Miles Bridges of Huntington (W.Va.) Prep and the third game featuring UK target Jarred Vanderbilt of Victory Prep (Texas).

University of Kentucky basketball commitment Sacha Killeya-Jones has been among the biggest risers in the class of 2016 recruiting rankings over the past few weeks.

No recruiting service has the 6-foot-10 power forward ranked higher than 247Sports, which now pegs him as the No. 16 overall prospect in the senior class.

That’s a high honor in a class that has been billed as one of the best in years, and Killeya-Jones is ranked higher than such highly touted players as Wenyen Gabriel, Jarrett Allen, Marques Bolden and Udoka Azubuike.

UK basketball commitment Sacha Killeya-Jones has achieved five-star status in the new composite rankings from 247Sports.com.

Killeya-Jones, who committed to the Wildcats last month, is the No. 26 overall player in the class of 2016 in the updated composite rankings, a collection of rankings from all of the major recruiting services.

The 6-foot-10 power forward from Chapel Hill, N.C., is ranked by 247Sports national analyst Jerry Meyer as the No. 16 overall player in the class.

No. 1 overall basketball recruit Harry Giles was among those who congratulated Sacha Killeya-Jones on his commitment to UK on Wednesday.

Giles and Killeya-Jones are both natives of North Carolina and will both attend high schools in Virginia this season. Killeya-Jones plays for Virginia Episcopal School, and Giles is entering his senior season at Oak Hill Academy.

UK is among the final five schools for Giles, who has already scheduled an official visit to Lexington for Big Blue Madness on Oct. 16.
