Williams

UK commitment Jarren Williams picked up a scholarship offer from Mississippi on Tuesday, another major offer for the highly touted quarterback in the class of 2018.

Williams — a 6-foot-3, 207-pound prospect from Lawrenceville, Ga. — committed to UK back in June, and he has said several times that he remains firmly committed to the Cats despite new offers from such schools as Tennessee, Michigan State, South Carolina, Mississippi State, Miami, Missouri and now Ole Miss.

Tennessee hosted Williams for a visit a couple of weeks ago, but he told the Herald-Leader last week that he does not have any other trips planned.

Williams

UK quarterback commitment Jarren Williams told the Herald-Leader on Friday that he will take a recruiting visit to Tennessee this weekend.

Williams — the Cats’ first commitment in the class of 2018 — was supposed to visit Knoxville last month, but he was unable to make that trip. The Volunteers are holding a “junior day” event for 2018 recruits Saturday.

Coaches from South Carolina and Michigan State have also been in contact with Williams recently — and both schools have extended scholarship offers — but he has maintained that he is solidly committed to Kentucky, despite being open to taking some recruiting visits this spring.
