Drew Barker is one of the most highly touted in-state football prospects over the past few years and has emerged as the face of UK’s much-hyped recruiting class of 2014. The Conner High School quarterback committed to the Wildcats over South Carolina in May, and he’s been one of Mark Stoops’ top ambassadors ever since. Barker has actively recruited fellow 2014 prospects via social media and during football camps in Lexington and elsewhere. His commitment to UK should help Stoops and his coaching staff attract more top-flight offensive talent from the 2014 class and beyond. Barker — who also had offers from Tennessee, Louisville, Miami, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Cincinnati and others — completed 140 of 225 passes for 2,067 yards and 22 touchdowns during his junior season. He also rushed for 1,422 yards and 18 scores last year. He is planning to graduate from high school in December and enroll at UK in January, which would allow him to participate in spring practice next year. The Herald-Leader will track Barker’s stats throughout his senior season, so keep an eye on the chart below over the next few months.
Note: All of Barker’s games will be available live on the Conner football radio station.
