UK was the first BCS-level team to offer Meyers a scholarship, and that early commitment paid off for the Cats.
The Florida lineman cut short his recruitment soon after the offer from Kentucky despite interest from other top programs.
“I just felt like since (Kentucky’s coaches) had offered me and a lot of other big schools haven’t and that they showed me that respect that I really didn’t want them to have to wait too long,” Meyers told Cats Illustrated. “I wanted them to know I wanted to be there. I just thought it was a good time to commit.”
Meyers is among the top 100 offensive guards in the country according to both Scout.com (76th) and ESPN (86th). Scout named him the top sleeper out of the Nike Elite camp in Orlando in April.
The ESPN analysis of Meyers says he might need a redshirt year, but praises his approach to the game.
“This guy is a tough customer with good upside. (He finishes) blocks with the nasty attitude we look for when evaluating offensive linemen.”

“He really gets after it and plays with a good motor. He makes good initial contact and stays on his defender for a long time, often times until the player is buried in the dirt.”
