Day has actually been a defensive lineman for all of his high school career, and he didn’t switch to the offensive side of the ball until after his junior season.
The 6-foot-8, 290-pounder showed enough promise at his new position to receive a UK offer after attending a camp in Lexington in May, and he jumped at the opportunity to play for an SEC school. He also had an offer from Southern Miss when he committed.
Day played on the offensive line for the first time in a high school game this fall. ESPN calls him a “raw talent” with plenty of upside.
“Overall, Day is a player the more you watch on film, the more you see what he can be as a football player down the road,” the ESPN evaluation says. “(He) has good athletic ability for a bigger guy, which can translate to the offensive side of the ball, but will need experience and (to) develop his technique.”

“I’m more of an aggressive type tackle. I like to get you on the ground more than playing with you.”
