John Calipari was a little late in offering a scholarship to Knox, but that hasn’t worked against Kentucky, which has been included in the five-star player’s list of four finalists.
Calipari watched Knox as much as anyone during the spring and summer. The versatile forward was named MaxPreps.com’s national junior of the year after averaging 29.6 points, 10.9 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game for Tampa Catholic last season.
Kentucky will be competing with ACC programs Duke, North Carolina and Florida State for Knox’s commitment. His father, also named Kevin Knox, was a standout wide receiver for the Seminoles.
Knox plans to take two visits to each of his four remaining schools this season. He attended Big Blue Madness in October on an unofficial visit and will return in late January for the Wildcats’ home game against Kansas.
|Oct. 28||Official visit to Duke|
|Jan. 7||Official visit to Florida State|
|Jan. 28||Official visit to Kentucky|
|Feb. 18||Official visit to North Carolina|
Knox averaged 18.5 points and 8.0 rebounds per game for Each1 Teach1 on the Nike circuit.
Knox has said multiple times that he will not announce a college decision until after his senior season, so he could be one of the final top players in the 2017 class to make a commitment.
