For Lee, one trip to Lexington was enough to persuade him to become a Wildcat.
After narrowing his list to Kentucky and home-state California, Lee attended Big Blue Madness for an official visit. He committed to John Calipari a few days later.
It’s easy to see why Calipari made Lee such a priority.
“From a talent standpoint, he has tremendous upside,” Scout.com analyst Evan Daniels told the Herald-Leader. “He’s really improved over the past year and a half. He’s a very good run-and-jump athlete. He runs the floor extremely well. He contests shots. He’s a willing rebounder.
“He’s still going to have to develop his post moves and fine-tune some things on the offensive end, but he’s loaded with talent.”
Some viewed Lee as a stand-in in case the Cats didn’t get a commitment from Julius Randle, but the Californian’s talent stands alone. He’d be tremendous in Calipari’s system, and he should make an instant impact on the defensive end.
“He doesn’t have to put up points to be a factor,” Daniels said. “I think he’ll be a factor defensively. I think, rebounding-wise, he’ll be a factor. You know, Kentucky likes to play fast-paced, and the way he runs the floor, he’ll get some easy buckets.”

“He’s a really good help defender and he’s selfless on the offensive side of the court. He doesn’t care how many times he gets to shoot the ball.”
