Brown entered the spring as, seemingly, one of UK’s top frontcourt targets in the 2018 recruiting class. John Calipari and his coaching staff watched Brown several times on the Under Armour circuit, but the Wildcats did not extend a scholarship offer over the summer, and it appeared that their pursuit of Brown had fizzled.
On the Sunday before the start of the fall signing period, however, Calipari showed up in New York for an in-home visit with Brown and his family, and he now heads into the winter as the Cats’ top frontcourt target for 2018.
The 7-1 prospect has had kind words for the UK coach in the past, and his father told the Herald-Leader on the night of Calipari’s visit that Kentucky has been his son’s “dream school.” The Cats look to be in good shape with the five-star center if Calipari keeps recruiting him hard over the next few weeks.
Brown’s first official visit was to Louisville, but the Cards are off his list as a result of the fallout from the federal investigation into college basketball. Maryland now looks to be Kentucky’s top competition for Brown’s commitment.
He does not have a scholarship offer from Kentucky, but that could come when he takes his official visit to Lexington. There is no date scheduled for that trip yet.
|Sept. 2||Official visit to Louisville|

Brown averaged 14.2 points, 8.6 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game on the Under Armour Association circuit this past summer.
Brown has not set a specific date for his college commitment and will sign with a school in the spring.
