Class of 2021 national rankings 247Sports

Diabate landed a UK scholarship offer in September, but he had actually been on Kentucky’s recruiting radar for much longer.
At one point a possible reclassification candidate to 2020, Diabate instead decided to stay in high school and is currently in his senior year at IMG Academy (Fla.), the national prep powerhouse. He’s seen as one of the more dominant rebounders in the class of 2021, and he’s one of the most promising frontcourt prospects in a group that is relatively lacking in that area nationally.
Going into his senior year, Diabate had one of the most mysterious recruitments in the country. He holds several high-major scholarship offers, but he hasn’t given many hints to possible favorites, and picking even a small group of frontrunners for his commitment would be little more than a guess at this point in his recruiting process.
Kentucky was the first blue-blood program to extend a scholarship offer, and the Cats wouldn’t have made that move unless they thought they had a realistic shot at landing his commitment down the road.

Diabate averaged 11.2 points and 11.5 rebounds per game for the French team at the FIBA U18 European Championships in 2019 and then transferred to national powerhouse IMG Academy in Florida for his junior season of high school.

“Energetic athlete who plays with aggression and a competitive edge. Thrives on contact and has an unorthodox style that is physically intimidating. High level rebounder who goes out of his area to pursue the ball. … A versatile and adept defender. Quality shot blocker. Has great potential as a high-energy defender, rebounder type.”
