Maxey

Five-star point guard Tyrese Maxey is the No. 10 overall prospect in the class of 2019 — and the Cats’ only incoming top-10 prospect — according to the final Rivals.com rankings for that group, which were released in full Tuesday.

Maxey dropped one spot from the previous ranking. Other UK commitments in the new rankings are Kahlil Whitney at No. 14 (down six spots), Keion Brooks at No. 28 (down one spot) and Dontaie Allen at No. 67 (down 12 spots). Allen missed almost all of his senior season with a major knee injury.

Johnny Juzang

Five-star shooting guard Johnny Juzang, who recently announced that he is reclassifying to 2019, revealed Sunday evening that he has narrowed his recruitment to four schools schools.

Juzang — a 6-foot-6 prospect from Los Angeles — is down to Kansas, Kentucky, Oregon and Virginia, and UK is widely seen as the favorite. He is scheduled to begin his official visit to Lexington on Monday, and a college decision could come soon after that trip. He has no other official visits scheduled, and his only previous one was a trip to Virginia in the fall.

247Sports national analyst Jerry Meyer is among many recruiting experts now predicting that Juzang will end up at Kentucky.

The first pro-Kentucky predictions from a national recruiting analyst is in following five-star wing Keion Brooks’ visit to Lexington this past weekend.

National recruiting expert Andrew Slater logged a pick for the Wildcats on Brooks’ 247Sports Crystal Ball page early Tuesday morning. His prediction also moved Kentucky into a tie with Indiana for the favorite status on Brooks’ Crystal Ball page. Later in the day, 247Sports national analyst Jerry Meyer changed his pick from Indiana to UK, pushing the Cats past the Hoosiers.

McDaniels

It could be a very good winter of recruiting for the Washington basketball program.

After securing a midseason transfer from UK guard Quade Green and picking up a high-profile commitment from five-star big man Isaiah Stewart, who chose Washington over UK, Duke, Michigan State and Syracuse on Sunday night, the Huskies are now fully focused on Seattle native Jaden McDaniels, another elite prospect in the class of 2019.

McDaniels — a 6-foot-10 forward — played in the Hoophall Classic on ESPNU on Monday morning, and ESPN recruiting analyst Jeff Borzello commented on his recruitment after the game.

Stewart

Washington’s momentum in the recruitment of five-star post player Isaiah Stewart continued Thursday morning with a new Crystal Ball prediction in favor of the Huskies from 247Sports national analyst Evan Daniels.

Daniels, who is admittedly cautious with his Crystal Ball picks, has been correct on 85 of his 88 predictions within the 2019 class. Washington is also now the leader on Stewart’s Crystal Ball page.

The 6-foot-9 prospect from Rochester, N.Y. — who plays for La Lumiere (Ind.) — is also considering Kentucky, Duke, Michigan State and Syracuse, but the Huskies have been the subject of several prominent predictions in recent weeks. Those now picking Washington for Stewart include Rivals.com analysts Eric Bossi, Corey Evans and Dan McDonald, as well as 247Sports analysts Brian Snow and Jerry Meyer.

Edwards

When five-star shooting guard Anthony Edwards revealed last week that he was moving from the class of 2020 to the class of 2019, a list of five schools was attached to his recruitment: Florida State, Georgia, Kentucky, Michigan State and North Carolina.

247Sports national analyst Evan Daniels reported Tuesday night that three more schools have been added — Duke, Kansas and UCLA — and Edwards will enter the winter focused on those eight schools. Daniels also rescinded his recent Crystal Ball prediction in favor of Florida State, a sign that this recruitment might be a little more open than previously thought.
