Brandon Boston

Rivals.com finalized its class of 2020 basketball rankings this week, and the list included three Kentucky signees in five-star territory with the other three all inside the national top 50.

Brandon Boston remains Kentucky’s top-ranked recruit in the class, sticking at No. 4 overall in the final Rivals rankings. ESPN and 247Sports also ranked Boston as the Wildcats’ top signee, with 247 putting him at No. 5 and ESPN placing him sixth nationally.

Fellow UK shooting guard signee Terrence Clarke fell two spots in the final Rivals 150 but still comes in at No. 7 overall, making Kentucky the only school in the 2020 cycle to land two players inside the top 10.

Boston

247Sports posted its final recruiting rankings for the basketball class of 2020, and Kentucky signee Brandon Boston was one of the biggest risers.

Boston moved from No. 16 to No. 5 nationally, making him the Wildcats’ top-ranked signee in their No. 1 recruiting class. He’s also the first Kentucky recruit to finish in the top five of the 247Sports rankings since Skal Labissiere was the No. 2 overall prospect in 2015.

UK signee Terrence Clarke fell from No. 4 to No. 9 in the final rankings, one of four future Wildcats to drop from the previous update. Point guard signee Devin Askew moved from No. 28 to No. 34, power forward Lance Ware fell from No. 36 to No. 40, and wing prospect Cam’Ron Fletcher dropped from No. 47 to No. 73.

ESPN updated its basketball recruiting rankings for the classes of 2020, 2021 and 2022 on Monday, and likely Southern Cal commitment Evan Mobley is the top prospect in the next senior class.

Mobley — a post player from California — has not committed to the Trojans yet, but his father is an assistant coach at USC and his older brother, five-star recruit Isaiah Mobley, will be a freshman there this season.

Rivals.com and 247Sports also rank Evan Mobley as the top player in 2020.

Fletcher

Kentucky has extended a scholarship offer to class of 2020 recruit Cam’Ron Fletcher, he announced Saturday afternoon.

Fletcher — a 6-foot-6 wing from St. Louis — has been on UK’s radar for several months, and he told the Herald-Leader earlier this spring that Wildcats assistant coach Kenny Payne had asked him to come to Lexington for a recruiting visit. Fletcher said he planned to make that trip this summer, and he was in Lexington on Saturday.

Kentucky assistant coach Joel Justus had an in-home visit with five-star point guard Daishen Nix on Thursday night.

Nix — a 6-foot-5 prospect from Alaska — is one of the most highly touted playmakers in the 2020 recruiting class. 247Sports ranks him as the No. 13 overall prospect in that class and the No. 1 point guard in 2020.

Earlier this year, Nix said that he had been in contact with Kentucky, which has coveted point guards with his type of size during the John Calipari era. Kansas, UCLA, Arizona and Gonzaga are among the many schools that have extended scholarship offers.

Kentucky basketball fans will be able to get a look at future Wildcats forward Keion Brooks this week as he tries to lead La Lumiere (Ind.) to a high school national championship.

Jalen Green

Rivals.com’s basketball rankings week continued Wednesday with an updated list for the class of 2020, and there’s a new name at the top.

California post player Evan Mobley has taken over the No. 1 spot in Rivals’ 2020 rankings, but he is not a UK recruiting target. Mobley is the son of Southern Cal assistant coach Eric Mobley and the younger brother of USC signee Isaiah Mobley, and — though Evan hasn’t committed to the Trojans just yet — the assumption is he will ultimately join his family at USC.
